What to know: This is the first meeting between the teams. Both squads were 31-7 last year; Iowa reached the championship game of the NCAA tournament; Bowling Green advanced to the WNIT semifinals.
The Hawkeyes have won four straight games, capturing the championship of the Gulf Coast Classic last weekend at Estero, Fla. Iowa avenged its only loss of the season, 77-70 over Kansas State in the final.
Iowa’s Caitlin Clark is 46 points from becoming the 15th player in NCAA Division-I women’s basketball to reach 3,000 points. Clark leads the nation in scoring at 29.6 points per game and is fifth in assists per game (7.5).
Hannah Stuelke probably will miss her third straight game due to an unspecified injury; Iowa Coach Lisa Bluder is hopeful she will be back for Wednesday’s game at Iowa State.
Stuelke (.717) is sixth in the nation in field-goal percentage. Sharon Goodman (.739) would be fifth if she had the qualifying number of attempts.
Bowling Green has won four straight games. This is the first of three big December challenges for the Falcons, who still face No. 1 South Carolina (home) and Indiana (away) later this month.
