What to know: Iowa’s Caitlin Clark, the nation’s leading scorer at 32.1 points per game, has climbed to No. 2 on the all-time NCAA Division-I women’s basketball scoring chart with 3,424 points. She needs 103 to catch Kelsey Plum at the top.
Clark has scored 30 points or more in five consecutive games and nine of the last 11.
She is 35 3-pointers away from the NCAA career record of 497.
The Hawkeyes’ 110 points against Northwestern on Wednesday was their second-highest total this season and marked the sixth time in 2023-24 that they crashed the century mark.
Gabbie Marshall’s 12 points Wednesday brought her within 24 of the 1,000-point mark for her career.
Maryland’s six Big Ten losses are its most in a season since joining the league in 2014-15. The previous high was four (2017-18 and 2021-22).
Cedar Rapids native Brenda Frese has assembled a 632-186 coaching record, including 575-156 in 22 years at Maryland. She piloted the Terps to the 2006 national championship.
Six-foot-2 junior guard Shyanne Sellers leads Maryland in scoring (15.4 points per game), rebounds (5.6 per game) and assists (5.3).
Iowa is 0-6 at College Park since the Terrapins’ Big Ten arrival.
With Kansas State’s loss to Oklahoma on Wednesday, the Hawkeyes are likely to rise to No. 2 in Monday’s Associated Press poll with a victory.
