The Missouri Valley Conference’s Sixth Man of the Year is joining the Iowa men’s basketball team.
Tavion Banks, a 6-foot-7 forward from Kansas City, Mo., is following coach Ben McCollum from Drake to Iowa. Banks, who signed with the Hawkeyes on Friday evening, averaged 10.1 points and 5.1 rebounds in 34 games for Drake’s 31-4 team.
He had 13 points and 9 rebounds in the Bulldogs MVC tournament championship game win over Bradley and was named to the all-tournament team.
Banks spent his first two seasons at Northwest Florida State. He joins Drake teammate Bennett Stirtz, the MVC Player of the Year, at Iowa.
