What to know: Iowa is 3-0 at home and Minnesota is 0-3 on the road in Big Ten play. The Gophers are 0-5 away from Minneapolis.
The Hawkeyes have won six straight games in the series and won the last six meetings at Carver. Minnesota hasn’t won in Iowa City since 2015.
Iowa is coming off losses of 99-89 at USC and 94-70 at UCLA last week. Both Hawkeye foes shot over 62 percent from the field, and Iowa was outrebounded by a total of 66-39.
Both games had announced crowds of under 5,300.
Iowa guard Drew Thelwell is 14 points shy of 1,000 for his career.
The Gophers got their first Big Ten win last Thursday with an 84-81 overtime victory over No. 20 Michigan. Senior foward Dawson Garcia (19.1 points, 7.6 rebounds per game) had 27 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and three steals, and hit a last-second 3-pointer from the logo in overtime for the win.
That victory was the program’s first over a ranked opponent since Feb. 11, 2021,
Garcia is tied for the most 20-point games in the Big Ten with 11.
Eleven players on the Gophers’ roster began their college careers elsewhere.
Minnesota is 16-50 in the Big Ten under fourth-year coach Ben Johnson.
The Gophers’ largest home crowd this season is 9,754. Their average announced attendance three seasons ago was 10,267. Ten years ago, it was 12,188.
