Here are all of Iowa’s first-round NBA draft picks:
1970 — John Johnson (7th overall)
1971 — Fred Brown (6th)
1973 — Kevin Kunnert (12th)
1980 — Ronnie Lester (10th)
1989 — B.J. Armstrong (18th)
1989 — Roy Marble (23rd)
1993 — Acie Earl (19th)
1998 — Ricky Davis (21st)
Notes: While Don Nelson was a third-round pick in 1962, he was the 17th pick in the entire draft.
Iowa has had just five players drafted since 2000, all second-rounders. They are Adam Haluska (2007), Devyn Marble (2014), Aaron White (2015), Joe Wieskamp (2021), and Luka Garza (2021).
Since Iowa’s last first-rounder, Michigan State has had 11 players taken in the first round, Indiana and Michigan nine, Ohio State eight, Maryland seven, Illinois five, Wisconsin four, Minnesota three, Purdue two, and Rutgers one. Iowa State had five.
