What to know: This is the first meeting between the two programs since 1993, when C. Vivian Stringer and the Hawkeyes topped Pat Summitt and the Lady Vols, 72-56, at Iowa City to advance to the Final Four.
Iowa’s last game was eight days ago, a 68-48 win over BYU at the Cancun Challenge.
Coach Jan Jensen said earlier this week that Lucy Olsen is “more likely than not” to play Saturday. The Hawkeyes’ leading scorer (17.3 ppg), Olsen missed both games in Cancun due to a cut on her knee.
Jensen and counterpart Kim Caldwell both are off to fast starts in their new role. Jensen had been Lisa Bluder’s assistant at Iowa for 24 years; Caldwell took over at Tennessee this season after eight years at Glenville State and Marshall (217-31).
The Lady Vols are averaging 95.0 points per game; their opponents are committing 28.0 turnovers per contest.
Five Tennessee players are averaging in double figures, led by 6-foot sophomore guard Talaysia Cooper (19.7 ppg).
