What to know: Iowa’s six-game winning streak came to an end in a 77-70 loss at Maryland Wednesday night, right as the Hawkeyes enter one of their toughest stretch of the season. Head coach Ben McCollum and co. play three consecutive Quad 1 games, starting with the Boilermakers, before their final two-game road trip of the regular season.
The matchup is also the first sellout in the Ben McCollum era, with the program making the official announcement on Feb. 3.

The Boilermakers are holding their opponents to 69.1 points per game this season, forcing 11.1 turnovers per game. Purdue also holds a plus-seven rebounding margin.
Purdue guard Braden Smith leads the team in scoring with 15.1 points per game, with Fletcher Loyer (13.6), Trey Kaufman-Renn (12.4) and Oscar Cluff (10.8) also averaging double figures. Kaufman-Renn and Cluff both rank inside the top seven in the Big Ten for rebounding.
Iowa hasn’t beaten Purdue in Iowa City since Dec. 22, 2020, in a 70-55 victory.
The Hawkeyes led the Boilermakers in the second half during Iowa’s trip to West Lafayette in January, before Smith helped guide Purdue to the five-point win — which was Purdue’s largest lead of the game. Iowa guard Kael Combs recorded a season-high 16 points in that game, just behind Bennett Stirtz’s 19 points.
