What to know: Iowa has won four of the last five meetings with the Cyclones while Iowa State has won nine of its last 10 games against the Hawkeyes in Ames.

The Hawkeyes are 0-2 in true road games, with losses to top-10 teams Creighton and Purdue.

Only three of the 10 starters in Iowa’s 75-56 win over the Cyclones last year — Tamin Lipsey of ISU (15.1 points per game) and Iowa’s Patrick McCaffery and Tony Perkins — are back for this year’s game.

ISU freshman forward Milan Momcilovic of Pewaukee, Wis., averages 13.6 points and has made 21 of 47 3-pointers for 44.7 percent. His high school team won three straight state championships.

Iowa State has out-rebounded its opponents by eight per game. It is 4-0 at home with an average winning margin of 45.5 points.

Iowa lost 87-68 at No. 4 Purdue Monday. Ben Krikke led the Hawkeyes with 16 points, his 28th-straight game of 10 or more points. He averages a team-high 18.4 points and leads the team in steals with 10.

Earlier this week, Iowa’s Owen Freeman was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the third time this season. His five blocks against North Florida were the most for the team since Keegan Murray had five against Longwood in 2021.

The Hawkeyes have a starter (McCaffery) from Iowa City. The Cyclones have a starter (Lipsey) from Ames.
