IOWA CITY — The Jan Jensen era with the University of Iowa women’s basketball team will officially open Oct. 30, with a home exhibition game against Missouri Western.
The Hawkeyes’ non-conference slate, which begins Nov. 6 at home against Northern Illinois, consists of five home games (plus the exhibition), one true road game and five contests on neutral sites.
Iowa’s other home games are against Toledo (Nov. 13), Washington State (Nov. 24), Iowa State (Dec. 11) and Northern Iowa (Dec. 20).
The road encounter is Nov. 17, at Drake.
The Hawkeyes’ remaining non-conference travels are to Charlotte, N.C. (Virginia Tech, Nov. 10), Sioux Falls, S.D. (Kansas, Nov. 20), Cancun, Mexico (Rhode Island and BYU, Nov. 28-29) and Brooklyn, N.Y. (Tennessee, Dec. 7).
Iowa’s Big Ten slate, which consists of 18 games, has not yet been determined.
The Hawkeyes were 34-5 last season and have reached the NCAA tournament final each of the last two years. Iowa has claimed three consecutive Big Ten tournament titles and returns starters Sydney Affolter and Hannah Stuelke.
Jensen was hired in May to succeed Lisa Bluder, who retired after 24 seasons in Iowa City.
