Facts:
1. This is the first time these teams have met since Iowa defeated Purdue 75-66 in last year’s Big Ten tournament championship game. Keegan Murray of that Iowa team was the No. 4 pick in the 2022 NBA draft, and Purdue guard Jaden Ivey was the No. 5 selection.
2. The Hawkeyes shot 84.9 percent (73-of-86) from the free-throw line over their three games at home last week, all wins.
3. This is the first time the Iowa men and women have faced top-five foes on the same day, and both games are in Indiana. The Iowa women play at No. 2 Indiana Thursday night.
4. Iowa and Purdue are the only teams in the nation that have made more than 75 free throws than their opponents have attempted.
5. Purdue and Kansas lead the nation in Quad 1 wins with nine. Texas has eight. Iowa is tied for fourth with Iowa State, Xavier and Baylor with seven.
6. Tony Perkins’ 32 points against Illinois Saturday gave Iowa three players (Kris Murray, Filip Rebraca) who have scored 30 in a game this season. Michigan is the only other Big Ten team with two.
Purdue forward Trevion Williams looks to pass between Iowa guard Payton Sandfort (20) and forward Kris Murray (24) during the Hawkeyes’ 75-66 win over the Boilermakers in the title game of the 2022 Big Ten men’s basketball tournament in Indianapolis last March 13. (Michael Conroy/Associated Press)
