Ooh-wah, ooh-wah, cool-cool kitty.
The Iowa men’s basketball team is adding a Manhattan Transfer, a young man from New York City.
A 6-foot-7 wing, Seydou Traore announced Wednesday that he was transferring from Division I Manhattan College to the Hawkeyes.
Traore, a New Yorker, averaged 11.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists. 1.3 blocks, 1.5 steals and 32.4 minutes last season as a freshman at Manhattan, which went 7-23.
He shot 43.3 percent from the field and 25.6 percent (23-of-90) from 3-point distance. He scored 16 points in his second career game, at Kansas.
Traore was the only player in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with 300 points, 200 rebounds, 60 assists, 40 steals and 30 blocks, and was on the MAAC All-Rookie team. He was third in Division I in rebounds per game by a freshman.
Traore joins guard Drew Thelwell of Morehead State as additions to the Hawkeyes this offseason.
