Tate Sage, a 6-foot-7 shooting guard from Weatherford, Okla., has committed to play for the Iowa men’s basketball team.
Sage had originally committed to play at Drake when current Hawkeyes Coach Ben McCollum was there. He announced Tuesday afternoon that he was instead following McCollum to Iowa.
Sage averaged 17 points for Weatherford in the Class 4A state high school tournament, which it won for the first time. The Eagles were runner-up the previous two years. They were 85-5 over the last three years with Sage starting.
Weatherford was ranked the nation’s No. 43 high school team by MaxPreps.com.
McCollum is the second high school recruit to sign with McCollum’s Hawkeyes, joining forward Trevin Jirak of West Des Moines Valley.
