What to know: This is Iowa’s first true road game. The road team won both games in this series last season.

Iowa and Michigan got off to winning starts in the Big Ten Tuesday. The Hawkeyes had a last-second 80-79 home win over Northwestern, and the Wolverines defeated No. 11 Wisconsin in Madison, 67-64, after trailing 32-26 at halftime.

Michigan also has wins over TCU, Virginia Tech, and then-No. 22 Xavier.

Dusty May is Michigan’s first-year head coach, coming from a 6-year run at Florida Atlantic that included a 35-4 season and a Final Four appearance in 2023.

Michigan has held opponents to 70 or fewer points in seven of its eight games.

Roddy Gayle Jr., who averaged 13.5 points for Ohio State last season, is averaging 11.6 for the Wolverines. Auburn transfer Tre Donaldson, a guard, averages 11.4.

All five Wolverine starters, including 7-footers Danny Wolf and Vladislav Goldin, began their college careers elsewhere. The only Michigander on the roster is freshman guard Phat Phat Brooks.

Josh Dix had 22 points, and the last-second, game-winning 3-pointer, in Iowa’s win over Northwestern. He played 38 minutes.

Brock Harding has averaged 17 points, 7.7 assists and 3.7 steals in his last three games for the Hawkeyes, and has made 60 percent of his shots in that time.
