Isaiah Johnson-Arigu, a 6-foot-7 freshman forward, is transferring from Miami (Fla.) to Iowa and will begin play with the team next season.
The Minneapolis native had a 30-day window to enter the NCAA transfer portal because Jim Larranaga stepped down as Miami’s coach last Dec. 26. Johnson-Arigu will enroll at Iowa for the second semester. He will debut as a Hawkeye at the start of next season.
Johnson-Arigu was a 4-star recruit. He played in seven games for Miami this season, averaging 1.0 points and 5.4 minutes. He played nine minutes for the Hurricanes last Saturday at Virginia Tech.
He was ranked the 2024 class’ No. 3 recruit from Minnesota by ESPN, averaging 20.3 points as a senior for Totino-Grace High School’s Class 3A state-championship team. Iowa offered him a scholarship in July 2023, two months before he committed to Miami.
