A short-handed Iowa women’s basketball team will be even more so tonight.
Iowa sports information confirmed that forward Hannah Stuelke is out for the Hawkeyes’ game at Purdue “due to an upper body injury.”
A senior and a native of Cedar Rapids, Stuelke is the Big Ten leader in rebounds, at 8.8 per game. She is second on the team in scoring at 13.8 points per game.
Her absence likely means that freshman Journey Houston will start at the power forward, along with Ava Heiden at center and Kylie Feuerbach, Chit-Chat Wright and Taylor Stremlow in the backcourt.
Iowa (ranked No. 13, 20-5 overall, 11-3 Big Ten) already is without Taylor McCabe for the season with a torn ACL.
The release said that Stuelke “is considered day-to-day and is hopeful to play against No. 6 Michigan on Sunday.”
Tipoff is 6 p.m. (CT). Iowa is a 16 1/2-point favorite over the Boilermakers (12-13, 4-10).
