Luka Garza has been persistent in his quest to get a standard NBA playing contract, and Thursday was the day.
The Minnesota Timberwolves converted the former Iowa National Player of the Year’s two-way deal to a standard contract Thursday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported.
Garza had been a two-way player for Minnesota in this, his third NBA season. He will spend the rest of this season exclusively with the Timberwolves, who are battling for the best record in the Western Conference.
Garza scored 16 points in just nine minutes Wednesday night in Minnesota’s 133-85 rout of Toronto.
With starting forward Karl Anthony-Towns out with a knee injury, Garza has averaged 6.5 points over his last 10 appearances.
