Joe Wieskamp is returning where his NBA career began, Texas.
The former Iowa men’s basketball player has joined his third NBA team. He signed a training camp contract with the Dallas Mavericks after getting waived by the Toronto Raptors in July.
Wieskamp was a second-round draft choice of the San Antonio Spurs in 2021 and played in 29 games for them as a rookie. He was waived last October and signed with Wisconsin of the NBA G League. Toronto signed him in January, and he appeared in nine games with the Raptors.
He scored 27 points for Toronto in its final NBA Summer League game last month, but was cut days later.
The Muscatine native averaged 13.2 points over his 97-game Iowa career.
