IOWA CITY — Iowa women’s basketball star guard Caitlin Clark has earned a spot on the training camp roster for the U.S. women’s national team, USA Basketball announced Thursday in a news release.
The camp is another step in USA Basketball’s evaluation process ahead of deciding on a roster for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The camp roster is subject to change.
Clark is the only current college player to be named to the 14-player roster, joining the likes of WNBA stars such as Diana Taurasi, Kelsey Plum, Brittney Griner, Sabrina Ionescu and others.
The training camp will be April 3-5 in Cleveland. Clark’s attendance is “contingent on University of Iowa’s progression through the NCAA tournament,” according to the USA Basketball news release. Iowa, the No. 1 seed in Albany Regional 2, is a favorite to advance to the Final Four, which overlaps with the training camp.
Clark is a three-time gold medal winner on USA Basketball junior national teams, including on the 2021 USA Women’s U19 National Team. She leads the NCAA by a wide margin this season with 31.8 points and 8.8 assists per game.
