Butler University officially announced Monday that former Iowa basketball player Connor McCaffery has been added to its men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach.
“Following a high-level playing career, Connor has had the opportunity to both contribute and learn alongside one of the best staffs in the NBA,” said Butler Coach Thad Matta. “Those experiences will be very valuable to our staff. He obviously comes from a basketball family that I know very well and I’m excited for the impact he is going to have on our program both quickly and in the long run.”
McCaffery had been the basketball development coordinator for the NBA’s Indiana Pacers. His playing career at Iowa, which spanned 166 games, ended in 2023.
McCaffery, 26, is the son of Iowa men’s basketball coach Fran McCaffery. His brother, Patrick McCaffery, will be a sixth-year collegian at Butler this season. Their younger brother, Jack McCaffery of Iowa City West, is committed to start playing college ball at Butler in the 2025-26 season.
