Lester "Les" L. Worley

My Dad, Les Worley, was born in 1927, the son of Clayton and Dorothy (Beliel) Worley, the middle child in a family of seven children. He grew up on a farm during the Great Depression where life was hard. At the young age of 16, he was sent on his way to make a life for himself, and a year later he enlisted in the U.S. Navy.

My Dad was part of the "Greatest Generation." He served his country honorably during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He didn't talk much about the war, as was the case with most of that generation, but coupled with the struggles of the Great Depression, his life was shaped and forever changed resulting in the great man that he was.

My Dad was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend…an all-around "Prince of a Guy." He did whatever it took to make a home for his family…working well into his 70s. We didn't have all the niceties of life, but he made sure we had all that we needed. His goal was to ensure that all six of his children had a better life than what he had, and with his love and encouragement we all succeeded. All six of his children graduated from college with successful careers. His hard work ethic and perseverance set the example for me to emulate.

Out of the Greatest Generation came great men, and my Dad was one of them.
