Celebration of Life for Kris Kennedy

Kris Kennedy's Celebration of Life will be held Friday, August 20, 2021, from 3 - 7 p.m. at City Park in Iowa City. Please join us in celebrating Kris' life as we gather to share the smiles, laughter and joy she gave all of us.

Kris was born on August 11, 1972, in Iowa City and died unexpectedly on January 23, 2021. She grew up in Lone Tree, but spent most of her life in Iowa City raising her family and enjoying life. Later, she returned to school, studying both radiology and surgical tech before taking a break to be a nursing assistant. After several years, she returned to manage the convenience store, where she spent many years building a community of people she adored.

Kris is survived by her husband, Bruce Kennedy; her mother, Cindy Larkin-Penney (Brett); five children, Brittany and Donovan Kimzey and Nichole, Michale and Tanya Kennedy; a grandson, Kingston Kennedy; a brother, Shawn Larkin (Becca); as well as a niece and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Kris was preceded in death by her father, Bruce Larkin; a cousin, Tina Marie O'Leary; an uncle, Brian Larkin; and grandparents, Ida and Jim Walsh and Vince and Lucielle Larkin.
