What's left of winter farmers markets

I'm hoping to make it to this Saturday's (Feb. 20, 2010) Winter Farmers Market in Springville. I found plenty of great locally produced food to buy at the Mount Vernon Winter Market last month and later took a road trip to Dubuque to check out theirs. That's where these photos were shot.
Shortly after we ran a story in the Gazette about the winter markets, I found out about another one in Coralville. Christina King tells me that the Coralville Winter Market has been held monthly since November at Kirkwood Elementary School, 1401 9th St., Coralville. The next one will be 10 a.m. to noon, March 27, so mark your calendars. Their markets are a fundraiser for the school's Parent-Teacher Organization.
That's good timing, too. Mickey Miller, co-manager of the Mount Vernon Market, said their market scheduled for March 27 has been cancelled, but one has been added in Mount Vernon on March 6.
So here is what's left of the Winter Farmers Markets in Eastern Iowa:
- Springville Winter Market, Springville Community Center, 265 Broadway St., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Feb. 20; March 20 and April 10.
- Mount Vernon Winter Market, Basement of City Hall, 213 First St. NW, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Feb. 27; March 6; March 13; April 3 and April 17.
- Coralville Winter Market, Kirkwood Elementary School, 1401 9th St., Coralville1401 Ninth St., 10 a.m. to noon, March 27.
- Dubuque Winter Market. Colts Drum & Bugle Corps Center, 1101 Central Ave., 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays through April 24.
