Barb Pople wants goodwill to grow in a new garden at Cedar Valley Townhouses in Cedar Rapids, formerly known as the J Street Apartments. Barb, who is going on her seventh year living at Cedar Valley, is the driving force behind a new community garden at the complex, but she noted that many others are involved.
The following organizations have pledged their support for the garden:
Healthy Linn Care Network
Linn County Connects
Green Iowa AmeriCorps
Cedar Valley Apartments
East Central Iowa Council of Governments
Metro High School
Mission of Hope
The Serendipity Project
Peoples Church
SouthWest Area Neighbors (SWAN)
Individuals and organizations that have donated labor and/or materials for the project:
ZJ Farms Plants/Seeds
Peoples Church Building materials
Cedar House Shelter Money
Cedar Valley Apartment residents Seeds/labor
Linn County Connects Plants/Seeds/Gardening Tools/Labor
Bill Elam Use of rototiller
Green Iowa AmeriCorps Labor
