The Healing Power of Nature at homegrown Cedar Rapids coffee house

Heather Younker, owner of Brewed Awakenings Coffeehouse & The Shop Next Door, sent the following on an event taking place Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010:

Ave. SE, will be hosting local optometrist, DeAnn Fitzgerald, from 7 to 8 :30 p.m., as she talks about her recent trip to Kipkaren, Kenya, and her nonprofit group, Spanda Inc. Brewed Awakenings will be serving coffee from Kenya to enjoy while learning about Kenya and Spanda's amazing work in that country. Fitzgerald has sponsored three mission trips to the rural Kenyan village, were she has helped to build an eye/health care clinic serving the village of 32,000.
Fitzgerald will also be signing her limited edition photography book, The Healing Power of Nature. All proceeds will go to fund the clean water and dentistry programs at the clinic. Her book will be available for sale at Brewed Awakenings through the end of March.
