Who Speaks for the Trees?
Please join Trees Forever and the “Lorax” us as we celebrate the many wonderful achievements of the past year, and help us recognize some special individuals and organizations that helped make it all possible.
In addition to the awards luncheon, we have three exciting workshops planned for the day – with only one per timeslot, so you won't have to choose between competing topics this year!
· 9:00 AM – Registration opens. Browse Trees Forever program displays.
· 9:30 AM – Telling a Story Through Pictures
A photography workshop presented by Steve Gibbons, Des Moines, Iowa. Steve will discuss how to tell a story through photography, and promises to share some helpful tips and tricks with all you photo buffs!
· 10:45 AM – Panel Discussion on “Many Ways to Speak for the Trees”
Moderated by John Lohman, Publisher of the Corridor Business Journal. The panelists will include a celebrated author, an environmental advocate from Illinois, the editor of a regional lifestyle magazine, a nature photographer, and a seasoned Iowa legislator.
· NOON – Annual Awards Luncheon and Keynote Speaker
We are thrilled to have Alice Ewen, National Program Manager for Urban & Community Forestry with the U.S. Forest Service, as our keynote speaker.
· 2:00 PM – Truffula Trees and Healthy Fishes
Take a tour of a wetlands and natural area renovation project located right behind the Marriott Hotel along the riverfront. The tour will be led by staff from the City of Coralville and Trees Forever. The city has done some amazing work here, so you won't want to miss this tour!
