Homegrown: Master Gardener plant sale set for Saturday
Cindy Hadish
May. 15, 2011 8:58 pm
I've purchased plants from garden centers, mail order catalogues, box stores and garage sales, and always, it's those I've bought from locally grown sources that thrive the best. One of my favorite plant sales is coming up on Saturday, May 21, 2011. The Linn County Master Gardeners plant sale will be 8 a.m. to noon at the ISU Linn County Extension Office Parking Lot, 3279 Seventh Ave., Marion.
No plants will be sold early, but for best selection, be right on time. As an added bonus, (actually two) the Marion Farmers Market will be held that morning in the space next to the plant sale, plus the Marion Arts Festival is that same day in uptown Marion.
Here is information about the sale from ISU Extension:

As always, pick plants for your garden from many kinds of perennials (both for sun and or shade), and many varieties of hosta and daylilies, also wildflowers, groundcovers, ornamental grasses, annuals and more. These plants come from our Master Gardeners' gardens, where they were carefully dug and potted, and tenderly taken care of until the sale day. Best of all, they are priced for anyone who likes a bargain. Take Master Gardener plants home, grow them and enjoy them for years to come.
Master Gardeners will help you choosing the plants just right for you and Plant Doctors will answer your gardening questions.
