I've met members of Green Iowa AmeriCorps in several of their recent ventures, including a recycling project at Garfield Elementary School and the work they do with making homes in the Cedar Rapids area more energy efficient.
They have an idea that involves expanding Earth Day, which happens later this month, into Earth Week.
Here is what they say and how you can collaborate with them:
Green Iowa AmeriCorps team in announcing Earth Week, April 21-27!
This year the Green Iowa service team in Linn County has decided to simultaneously celebrate our program's mission of energy efficiency and Earth Day with the creation of Earth Week. Our intent is to educate as many Linn County residents as possible on the importance of conserving energy and promoting environmental sustainability with a week series of eco-events and programs.
We have already teamed up with many organizations in Linn County to help make this initiative possible. However, there is still time to add a few more activities to the week. If you, or a group/organization that you know, is interested in participating, please contact us!
We would also truly appreciate any assistance in getting the word out about our events. Please take the time to visit and enjoy our website: http://www.earthweekgia.com (finalized details for some events to come soon.)
