Remember the Three Kings warning posted on Homegrown last month when it was 70 degrees and sunny?

Tonight is a good time to heed that warning. Forecasts call for frost in the early morning hours of Mothers Day (5/9/10.) If you already planted petunias or other annuals, or had a head-start planting tomatoes and peppers, it would be a good idea to cover them with a bed sheet overnight tonight. Perennials, such as hosta or daylillies, should be just fine. If you were at one of the many plant sales today or have potted plants that aren't in the ground yet, take them into a garage or other protected area or cover those with sheets, as well. Plastic isn't recommended because it conducts the cold.
