Upon approval of the FCC, Kirkwood's new radio station, KCCK-FM, was scheduled to begin operation in the fall of 1972.
"The station will be in full operation as soon as enough student volunteers have filled the staff positions. Part of the station's equipment has been built by the 1972 electronics engineering technology class at Kirkwood.
"The student-operated station plans to offer a variety of music and news programs, talk shows, call-in telephone shows and broadcasts of local Kirkwood basketball games," said a Sept.8, 1972 Gazette article.
