A welcome visit from Ambassador Petr Kolar to offer support for flood recovery of The National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, St. Wenceslaus Church, Sokol and even the Public Library reminded me of some long-standing Czech landmarks. One of the oldest is the Czech boulder.
An "Around the town" column in the June 12, 1949 Gazette:
The boulder was moved again in the 1980s to Sokol Park in Czech Village and rededicated in 2006 in honor of the Cedar Rapid's Czech heritage during the city's 150th anniversary.
But once again it was inundated by the Cedar in the Floods of 2008.
