Regents uphold firing of University of Iowa professor

The Iowa Board of Regents has voted to uphold the firing of a University of Iowa radiology professor who engaged in harassing behavior toward colleagues.
A spokeswoman said Thursday the board voted unanimously Wednesday afternoon for the termination of Malik Juweid after considering his appeal in closed session.
Juweid's attorney, Rockne Cole, said earlier this week he expected the board to uphold the firing, and that he would file a petition in Polk County asking a judge to find flaws in the termination process. He contends University President Sally Mason had a conflict in ordering Juweid's firing while he was suing her and other university officials.
Juweid has remained in the news because
he's pressing criminal charges in his native Jordan against two university officials involved in his firing.
