Discussion about human trafficking planned at Coe College

Coe College will host a panel discussion next week about what communities can do to prevent human trafficking.
The panel titled "Human Trafficking in Iowa: What Can You Do?" will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Kesler Auditorium at Hickok Hall. Speakers will include Jason Semprini of Iowa Legal Aid, Katie Burrell of the St. Luke's Child Protection Center and Sgt. Kevin Kinney of the Johnson County sheriff's department.
Human trafficking is the illegal trade of people for sexual exploitation or forced labor. Organizers planned the discussion after a Waterloo woman, who was among the 17 people arrested in a prostitution sting in Coralville in April, admitted to prostituting her 16-year-old sister.
The event is presented by the Sexual Health Alliance and sponsored by the Coe Human Rights Advocates.
