The Iowa High School Athletic Association dropped its weekly boys’ basketball rankings Monday, as well as all postseason brackets for Class 3A and 4A. Top substate seeds belong to Decorah in 3A and Linn-Mar and Cedar Rapids Kennedy in 4A. Linn-Mar moved up to No. 2 in this week’s 4A poll.

Iowa City High’s Kendall Kurtz has had a successful month. He defeated Dubuque Hempstead’s MItchell Pins for the 120-pound Class 3A district wrestling title Saturday at Cedar Rapids Jefferson. Kurtz enters next week’s state tournament with a 19-match win streak.
Iowa City West senior Hayden Hakes and Linn-Mar junior Parker Macho, along with Newton junior Finn Martin, each won two individual events to claim a share of the swimmer of the year award at boys’ state swimming championships Saturday at the University of Iowa’s Campus Wellness and Recreation Pool.

The Class 4A third-ranked Linn-Mar boys’ basketball team suffered an unexpected loss in early January to Ankeny at the Crossover Shootout in downtown Cedar Rapids. But it has been nothing but victories since, the Lions’ 11th straight coming Friday night at Dubuque Senior, 61-56, virtually wrapping up the Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division championship.
Girls’ basketball: Libby Fandel nets 34, and Cedar Rapids Xavier wraps up the MVC Mississippi Division title with a 57-41 win over Iowa City West. The Saints take a nine-game win streak into the postseason.

Lisbon’s Tiernan Boots will attempt to save his best finish for last, entering his last wrestling postseason when Lisbon travels to Saturday’s Class 1A district tournament hosted by Colfax-Mingo. The third-ranked 150-pounder is a three-time state qualifier, placing fourth last year and fifth as a freshman.
