Ogden column: Started in 2022, local high school bass fishing team has quickly become one of the best in the state, securing 5 of state’s 16 spots in national tournament
Cedar Rapids Kennedy won last year’s Class 4A state baseball championship, graduating a ton of talent from that team. That made this year’s Cougars a work in progress. But after an 11-5 win Monday night over second-ranked Cedar Rapids Prairie, Kennedy has won six games in a row and 10 of 11.

North Linn has won 13 straight games and remains a staple in the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 1A rankings. The Lynx are 17-2 and ranked No. 7, entering Week 6 of the season.

Iowa City West scored four runs in the top of the 7th for a 12-11 comeback victory in the opener. The Trojans jumped to an early lead and staved off a Cedar Rapids Washington rally for a 4-3 win in the nightcap, earning a baseball doubleheader sweep Friday night.
Cascade captured the opener, 6-1. Class 2A No. 10 Dyersville Beckman rebounded with a 9-5 victory in the nightcap for a River Valley Conference baseball doubleheader split Thursday night at American Legion Ballpark in Cascade.
