Postseason play will be at full throttle, starting Friday. Class 4A and 3A opens substate play. Cedar Rapids Prairie, Iowa City High and Iowa City Liberty are all No. 1 seeds in 4A. Marion is a top seed in 3A.

But those three didn’t shine as much in a 13-13, six-inning Class 1A district win Tuesday night over Midland as some of these young buck: freshmen, sophomores and eighth-graders that seem certain to keep the Lynx on the winning track in the future.

Iowa City High was the preseason No. 1 in the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 4A rankings. The Little Hawks closed the regular season at No. 4. They are joined by No. 6 Iowa City Liberty in the final poll released Monday.
High school softball: Despite an 8-14 regular-season record, it would be foolish as always to discount Iowa City Regina.
