After a successful 17-year stint as Center Point-Urbana girls’ basketball coach, Philip Klett has taken over the school’s boys’ basketball program. The Stormin’ Pointers are off to a 3-0 start.
“I didn’t do a ton of it (offseason practice) in between eighth grade to freshman year or freshman to sophomore year,” Palmer said. “I knew that if I wanted to reach the goals I have, it was going to take more work, more stuff I might not want to do — like spares. I tend to leave a lot of seven pins, so over the summer it was a lot of repetition.
Girls’ basketball notes: With some basketball-first youngsters, Independence is off to a 3-0 start and appears ready to compete in the Wamac Conference East Division.
Alburnett has been a power in Class 1A but has moved to 2A this season. The Pirates have competed with programs from all classes in recent years and will apply the same approach to this season.
