The Iowa High School Athletic Association state wrestling tournament is Wednesday through Saturday at Casey’s Center in Des Moines. Action starts with Class 3A Wednesday afternoon and 1A and 2A will begin Thursday.
The brackets have been released and here are the first-round pairings for Gazette area wrestlers in all three classes. The Class 3A state tournament begins Wednesday, while 1A and 2A start Thursday at Casey’s Center in Des Moines.
"He is the best swimmer in the history of the program," Sinnott said. "He has two state titles, two state records and holds school records in six events."

The Warriors went 18-3 in the regular season, finishing second to Crestwood in the large school division of the Upper Iowa Conference. South Winn and almost everyone else begins Class 1A postseason play Monday.
West, which last won a title in 2020, held off Linn-Mar to take the title with 224 points in a thrilling meet at the UI Campus Recreation and Wellness Center pool. The Lions scored 220 points to post the best finish in school history.
Cedar Rapids Kennedy’s Aidyn Roman made amends for last year’s finish and avenge some losses along the way. He claimed the 138-pound Class 3A district title Saturday at Iowa City High, returning to state after a year hiatus.

The Vikings -- led by seniors Karlie Einck, Marri Feuerhelm, Rylee Averhoff and Jasera Tweten, as well as juniors Kayley Baker and Hayley Baker — took home the Class 2A state championship Tuesday in Waterloo, the first in program history.
Cedar Rapids Prairie’s Conner Bistricky has made consistent improvement each season. He is ranked ninth and hopes his last postseason will bee his best as boys wrestling districts for all classes are Saturday.
