Mercy Medical Center has been recognized once again for its delivery of outstanding medical care, earning both state and national recognition in the CareChex® 2011 release of America's Top Quality Hospitals. CareChex is a division of The Delta Group, a leading healthcare information services and consulting company.
Mercy is recognized as #1 in the State and among the Top 100 in the Nation for both Major Orthopedic Surgery and Joint Replacement. The award in these categories recognizes medical excellence by evaluating hospital performance within the following quality measurement categories:
- Mortality
- Complications
- Inpatient Quality
- Patient Safety
Additionally, Mercy achieved recognition as Top 100 in the Nation for excellence in Overall Hospital, Overall Medical and Overall Surgical Care, as well as in nine additional clinical care categories: Gastrointestinal Care, Gastrointestinal Hemorrhage, Hip Fracture Repair, Joint Replacement, Major Bowel Procedures, Neurological Care, Major Orthopedic Surgery, Pulmonary Care and Stroke Care.
Mercy was also named Top 100 in the Nation and Top 10% in the State for Patient Safety in Trauma Care.
“Mercy's dedicated team of physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers consistently deliver outstanding care to our patients,” says Tim Charles, president and CEO at Mercy. “We are extremely proud to be recognized by an independent ratings company like The Delta Group; it reaffirms that we are delivering the very best outcomes for our patients.”
The CareChex Medical Quality Rating System is unlike other rating systems in that it provides a comprehensive, multi-dimensional analysis of medical quality. By factoring in a variety of process, outcome, safety and patient satisfaction measures, CareChex is able to accurately compare hospitals against national, state and local standards.
