Nov. 2, 2011 3:15 pm
Join St. Luke's Hospice on Wednesday, Nov. 16, for an emotional and riveting presentation about hospice and palliative care in Kenya. Juli McGowan, of Living Room Ministries International, will discuss the limited access to palliative care services in Africa and the suffering it has caused to many living with HIV/AIDS and other life-limiting illnesses.
McGowan will describe the powerful experience of mobilizing rural communities in Africa to provide home-based palliative care and to create a 26 bed in-patient hospice house. The challenges faced, successes achieved and stories encountered while providing palliative care and hospice in Kenya will also be discussed.
The presentation will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 16. A reception will be held prior to the program at 5 p.m. in the Formal Lounge at St. Luke's Resource Center, 1026 A Ave NE, Cedar Rapids. The program will begin promptly at 6 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Resource Center.
Seating is limited and registration requested. Please reserve your seat at 319/369-7744.
