Aug. 9, 2011 10:15 am
The East Central Iowa Council of Governments (ECICOG) and the Corridor Business Alliance (CBA) have combined their efforts to create a Comprehensive Regional Development Strategy. This strategy plan will serve as a combined Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) and Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) for the 7-county region, and hopefully be very useful to local, state and federal governments, as well as area business and development groups.
A series of local meetings around ECICOG's multi-County region this past winter were followed up by a successful Regional Development Summit at Kirkwood Community College in April.
The draft strategy plan was presented to the East Central Iowa Council of Governments Board of Directors and Regional Planning Affiliation 10 Policy Committee on June 30th and released for public comment until August 25.
Aug. 18 meeting in Washington
A 1-hour meeting to present the draft plan and summary of its recommendations, and get public feedback will be held in Washington County, co-hosted with the Washington Economic Development Group (WEDG), on Thursday, August 18th at 4:00pm at the Washington Public Library, 115 W. Washington St. on the south side of the town square in downtown Washington, Iowa.
The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
