CEDAR RAPIDS — Casey Greene will become market president for UnityPoint Health-Cedar Rapids later this month, as the current president and CEO Michelle Niermann assumes a role as chief operating officer overseeing hospitals in five cities, the health system announced Thursday.
Greene most recently served as vice president and chief operating officer for UnityPoint Health-Cedar Rapids, which includes St. Luke’s Hospital and associated clinics and entities.
“I look forward to building upon the strong culture and mission of our Cedar Rapids market,” Greene said in a statement. “Our intent is to continue to develop opportunities to better support our patients and providers, invest in our workforce and show people how much they matter.”
Greene, a University of Iowa graduate, joined Unity Point Health in 2019, bringing over 20 years of experience in operational leadership, human resources and finance, the announcement said.
Niermann will become COO for the system’s east division, overseeing operations at hospitals in Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Dubuque, Quad Cities and Madison, Wis. She had been president and CEO of UnityPoint Health-Cedar Rapids since 2019.
“Our organization remains wholeheartedly focused on providing quality health care to the communities we serve,” Kate Minette, the UnityPoint Health-Cedar Rapids board chair, said in a statement. “We are delighted to welcome Casey to this position, especially given his proven leadership and overall dedication to UnityPoint Health.”
The changes take effect Aug. 28.
