Iowa adds 55 new COVID-19 cases Monday, no new deaths reported

Iowa added 55 new COVID-19 cases Monday, bringing the total number of people in the state who have tested positive for the virus to 370,670.
The state’s seven-day average for new cases was 176 — the lowest since April 18, 2020, and continuing the downward trend for the 12th consecutive day.
Linn County added two new COVID-19 cases as of noon Monday, bringing the county’s total number of individuals who have tested positive for the virus to 20,996. The county’s seven-day average was 11.
Johnson County reported four new cases for a county total of 14,537 and a seven-day average of five.
Eight of the new cases reported in Iowa on Monday were among children 17 and younger — the lowest number of new cases among minors reported since The Gazette started tracking such data on Sept. 18 — bringing the total in that age group to 44,377.
Vaccinations
Across the state, 1,272,843 Iowans — or 40.34 percent of the state’s population — had received a single-dose COVID-19 vaccine or completed a two-dose vaccine series, an increase of 2,187 from Sunday.
The number of people fully vaccinated within the state, non-Iowans included, was 1,323,745. The state reported 1,216,357 individuals have completed the Moderna or Pfizer two-shot regimen while 107,388 people have received the single-shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
The number of total doses administered in the state as of Monday afternoon was 2,711,398.
As of 1:30 p.m. Monday, 101,204 people in Linn County were fully vaccinated. That’s 44.64 percent of the county’s total population.
In Johnson County, 77,137 people — or 51.04 percent of the county’s population — have been fully vaccinated.
Hospitalizations
Across the state, 118 people were hospitalized for COVID-19 during the 24-hour period ending at 11 a.m. Monday, the lowest number of hospitalizations recorded since June 28.
The number of intensive-care patients dipped from 37 to 33, and the number of patients on ventilators rose from 16 to 17.
Long-term care facilities
Two long-term care facility in Iowa are currently experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks with a total of 17 individuals who are sick with COVID-19.
An outbreak is considered three or more cases among a facility’s residents and staff.
To date, 2,358 people in these facilities have died because of of COVID-19, accounting for roughly 39 percent of the state’s death toll.
Confirmed deaths
No new deaths were reported by the state Monday. Iowa’s COVID-19 death toll remains at 6,035.
