Family Caregivers Center receives $1 million donation
Gift will fund two staff positions at center’s new location

The Family Caregivers Center of Mercy has received a $1 million donation, officials announced this week.
The Mercy Medical Center Foundation said the donation from John, Cindy and Bailey Bloomhall of Cedar Rapids and Naples, Fla., will fund two new staff positions at the center’s second location over the course of five years.
The two new positions will focus on supporting family caregivers of adult loved ones living with dementia and other chronic conditions.
The Family Caregivers Center of Mercy, established in 2015, is a department within Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids that provides a comprehensive resources for family caregivers in Iowa.
The center is opening a new location at HallMar Village, a new senior living community in northeast Cedar Rapids that’s scheduled to be completed in 2023. The new center will be housed within HallMar’s DeWolf Family Innovation Center.
