CEDAR RAPIDS — The Eastern Iowa Health Center is offering free COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters — and transportation --- in eight clinics starting Saturday.
The clinics run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday as well as Feb. 25, March 18 and 25, April 15 and 22 and May 13 and 20 at the center, 1201 Third Ave SE in Cedar Rapids. To make an appointment for the vaccine clinic, call (319) 730-7300.
“At Eastern Iowa Health Center, we serve a large percentage of the population who is struggling to make ends meet, and we know time and transportation are the big obstacles standing in their way,” said a statement from Joe Lock, president and chief executive officer of the center. “These clinics are our way of removing those obstacles so everyone in Cedar Rapids and the surrounding area can get fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Removing barriers to quality health care is important, so we constantly take steps to show how we care about everyone’s health.”
The center said it was working with Horizon’s Neighborhood Transportation Service to offer transportation during the clinic times. The service will pick people up at their home for free for their scheduled appointments.
Beyond the expanded hours on the eight Saturdays for the vaccine clinics, the Eastern Iowa Health Clinic offers health services for people living in poverty, including family medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, labor and delivery, behavioral health and dental care.
