IOWA CITY — Wide receiver Tyrone Tracy Jr. is no longer a starter, Iowa announced Monday in its weekly depth chart.
True freshman Keagan Johnson now is the starter at the top wide receiver spot. Johnson has 316 receiving yards in 2021, the most among any Iowa wideout, and averages 21.1 yards per reception.
Monday’s depth chart comes a day after Tracy tweeted, “Why have a Swiss Army knife and NOT use it to its full potential!!”
Tracy later deleted the tweet.
While Johnson is a new starter on the depth chart released every Monday, he has started ahead of Tracy in Iowa’s last five games.
At quarterback, Alex Padilla is the starter for the second straight week with Deuce Hogan backing him up. Spencer Petras, who left the Northwestern game with a shoulder injury, is not on the depth chart.
With Mason Richman still out at left tackle, Jack Plumb is in line for another start on the offensive line.
Veteran cornerback Terry Roberts, who also is recovering from an injury, isn’t listed on the depth chart.
The depth chart is representative of Iowa’s plan at the beginning of the week and may still change before Saturday’s game against Illinois.
