Rescheduling postponed Iowa-Ohio State men’s basketball game could be difficult
Hawkeyes resume play Sunday at home against Minnesota.

The University of Iowa men’s basketball game at No. 16 Ohio State scheduled for Thursday night in Columbus, Ohio, has been postponed due to travel cancellations and inclement weather in the Midwest.
Iowa is next scheduled to compete on Sunday against Minnesota at 3:30 p.m.
The plane the Hawkeyes were supposed to take from Iowa to Columbus on Wednesday was stuck in Lincoln, Neb., because of mechanical issues. Thursday’s weather in Columbus precluded travel here, with a winter storm warning in effect for the day that includes ice.
The two schools said they will work with the Big Ten Conference on a potential date to reschedule the game sometime before the March 6 end of the regular season.
Given the tightness of the two teams’ schedules from now until March 6, rescheduling looks like a formidable challenge. Typically, teams get no fewer than two days between league games.
Iowa’s longest gap between remaining games is from a Feb. 17 home game against Michigan to a Feb. 22 game at Michigan State. Ohio State hosts Minnesota. But Ohio State plays Minnesota at home on the Feb. 15 and is at Indiana on Feb. 19.
Ohio State’s Jan. 22 home game against Nebraska was postponed because of COVID-19 issues within the Cornhuskers’ program, and has yet to be rescheduled.
