No. 24 Iowa cruised to its fifth straight win Sunday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, handling Illinois 95-71.
The Hawkeyes improved to 16-3 overall and 5-3 in the Big Ten. The Illini are now 5-13, 1-6.

MVP: Joe Wieskamp didn't miss a shot Sunday on his way to a game-high 24 points. The Iowa freshman was a perfect 6-for-6 from the 3-point line, 8-for-8 from the field and 2-for-2 from the free throw line.
Turning point: The Hawkeyes never trailed in this game and were up 39-24 at halftime, but they especially made their mark during a stretch early in the second half. Iowa turned a 46-35 advantage into 61-42 with five 3-pointers in as many possessions. Isaiah Moss and Jordan Bohannon each had two of them and Wieskamp knocked down the other, all in a span of 1 minute, 23 seconds of game time.
Key stat: 15-21. Iowa hit 15 of 21 3-pointers for 71.4 percent, a Carver-Hawkeye Arena record. That's the best mark in the Fran McCaffery era, as is the 68 percent the Hawkeyes shot from the field Sunday.
