MVP: Purdue point guard Carsen Edwards showed why he's the frontrunner for Big Ten Player of the Year. He scored 21 points, including 16 in the first half, on 8-for-17 shooting and added five rebounds, two assists and a steal with just one turnover.
Turning point: Iowa took a 15-14 lead on Tyler Cook's blow-by, two-handed flush and the Boilermakers responded immediately with the next five points. They used a 23-9 run to build a 37-22 lead at the under-4 media timeout. By halftime, Iowa had dug a 17-point deficit (52-35) for the 11th straight road game.
Key stat: 63.3. The Boilermakers made 19 of their 30 first-half field goal attempts, as Iowa's defense reverted to last year's form. The Boilermakers were 5 of 10 from downtown and scored 13 points off seven Hawkeye turnovers.
