Game recap: Iowa Hawkeyes shoot themselves in feet in upset loss at Nebraska
Reaction: Iowa basketball's problem is depth, not shooting from deep
Turning point: Iowa led just once, 51-50, when Joe Wieskamp hit his first and only 3-pointer of the game with 12:41 to play. It was 59-59 with 5:03 left when Thorir Thorbjarnarson buried back-to-back deep 3-pointers to put Nebraska up 65-61. The Hawkeyes then turned it over on three critical possessions before and after the media timeout to allow Nebraska to start sealing the win.
MVP: Nebraska point guard Cam Mack was a tough cover for Iowa all night. He used his quickness and length to tally 15 points and 10 assists, also hitting a pair of 3-pointers on seven attempts.
Key stat: 4-33. Nebraska keyed in on Luka Garza in the post with sharpshooter CJ Fredrick out (and Jordan Bohannon done for the season) and it worked. Iowa had plenty of open looks from 3-point distance but hit just 4 of 33. The Hawkeyes missed 16 of their first 17 attempts and were 2 for 19 in the first half. Another notable number: Iowa attempted only five free throws, making two.
