Former Iowa men's basketball guard Maishe Dailey is heading home for his final season of college basketball.
Dailey announced Monday he is transferring to Akron, which is about 30 miles south of his hometown of Beachwood, Ohio.
Dailey, 6-foot-7 and 200 pounds, averaged 2.5 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 12.4 minutes per game last season.
'I would like to thank Coach (Fran) McCaffery and the coaching staff for the opportunity to be a part of the Iowa program,” he said in a March 28 statement announcing his decision to leave Iowa after three seasons. 'I want to wish my teammates the best of luck in the future.”
Dailey will have to sit out the upcoming season due to NCAA rules and will have one year of eligbility remaining in 2020-21.
Akron was 17-16 last season and finished 8-10 in the Mid-American Conference. The head coach is John Groce, who led Illinois from 2012-2017.
