Michigan was 3 of 19 from 3-point range but Iowa's season still came to an end Thursday with a Big Ten tournament second-round loss to the Wolverines, 77-71 in overtime.
The Wolverines' only three treys came from Duncan Robinson, the third of which put Michigan up 72-70 with 2:17 left in overtime.
The Hawkeyes made just one field goal in the extra period. Luka Garza and Isaiah Moss missed potential game-tying 3s in the final minute.
Jordan Bohannon's deep 3-pointer tied the game at 66 and forced overtime, almost a minute after Nicholas Baer's 3 sliced the Michigan lead to three.
The Wolverines held on despite Mo Wagner (11 points) and Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman (nine) fouling out. Charles Matthews led Michigan with 15 points and seven rebounds.
Ryan Kriener led Iowa off the bench with 14 points on 6-for-7 shooting off the bench. Tyler Cook and Luka Garza both scored 13 and combined for 13 rebounds. Bohannon added 11, only 3 of 13 from the field.
Michigan (25-7) will take on No. 4 seed Nebraska in Friday's quarterfinals. Iowa ends its season with a 14-19 record.
